🔥 “The Wind of the Spirit”
A 7-Point Spirit-Filled Sermon
John 3:8 “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.””
Acts 2:2 “And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.”
INTRODUCTION — “You Can Hear It, You Can Feel It, You can't see it, But You Cannot Control It”
INTRODUCTION — “You Can Hear It, You Can Feel It, You can't see it, But You Cannot Control It”
There are moments in life when the atmosphere shifts, but nothing in the natural explains it. You’re sitting in your car worshiping, and suddenly tears start flowing. You’re standing in church, and out of nowhere a warmth sweeps over you—no one touched you, but God did. You’re walking through a difficult season, and in the quiet moments you feel a gentle strength rise inside you that wasn’t there before. What is that? It is the wind of the Spirit moving through your life.
Jesus said in John 3:8, “The wind blows where it wishes…”—meaning the Holy Spirit is not confined, limited, or predictable. You can’t control Him. You can’t manufacture Him. You can’t schedule Him. You can only surrender to Him.
And when the wind of the Spirit moves, you can hear it, you can feel it, and you can see the evidence of it—in transformed hearts, in renewed minds, in broken chains, in sudden breakthroughs, in restored marriages, in ignited callings.
Just like Acts 2:2, when “a rushing mighty wind filled the whole house,” God wants to fill your house—your heart, your mind, your family, your ministry—with His supernatural breath again. Not a whisper. Not a breeze. But a rushing, mighty wind that leaves nothing the same.
Today we step into that wind.
Today we say, “Holy Spirit, breathe on us again.”
POINT 1 — THE WIND OF THE SPIRIT IS INVISIBLE BUT UNDENIABLE
POINT 1 — THE WIND OF THE SPIRIT IS INVISIBLE BUT UNDENIABLE
John 3:8
You can’t see wind, but you see what it touches. You see the trees move. You see dust swirl. You see waves shift.
Real-Life Illustration:
A man walks outside after a storm and sees a tree blown down, trash cans moved, and debris everywhere. He didn’t see the wind—but the evidence proved it came.
So is the Spirit.
You can’t always explain Him, but you can identify His fingerprints:
A heart convicted of sin that was once hardened
A teenager who suddenly desires to pray
A church once dry now alive with worship
A person overwhelmed by peace that makes no sense
The invisible Spirit produces visible transformation.
Supporting Scriptures:
2 Corinthians 5:17 — “All things become new.”
Ezekiel 36:26 — “I will give you a new heart…”
Key Thought:
If the Spirit is at work in your life, others will see the evidence.
POINT 2 — THE WIND OF THE SPIRIT BLOWS WITH PURPOSE, NOT ACCIDENT
POINT 2 — THE WIND OF THE SPIRIT BLOWS WITH PURPOSE, NOT ACCIDENT
John 3:8 — “It blows where it wishes.”
The Holy Spirit doesn’t move randomly. He moves intentionally, preparing hearts, opening doors, shifting atmospheres.
Real-Life Illustration:
Have you ever walked into a room after an argument? You didn’t see what happened, but you could feel the tension in the air.
Now think of walking into a prayer meeting—same thing, but the air is charged with peace, presence, and power.
The Spirit changes the climate.
Supporting Scriptures:
Romans 8:14 — “Led by the Spirit.”
Psalm 37:23 — “Steps ordered by the Lord.”
Key Thought:
When the Spirit moves, He is aiming you somewhere.
POINT 3 — THE WIND OF THE SPIRIT BRINGS SUDDEN CHANGE
POINT 3 — THE WIND OF THE SPIRIT BRINGS SUDDEN CHANGE
Acts 2:2 — “And suddenly…”
God doesn’t need time to turn situations around. He only needs surrender.
Real-Life Illustration:
People spend weeks trying to start a fire outside. One gust of wind and the blaze grows instantly. A firefighter knows that wind changes everything—it accelerates fire.
When the Holy Spirit moves, He accelerates your destiny.
He can:
Open a door in a moment
Heal a heart instantly
Break a generational curse suddenly
Revive a dry church unexpectedly
Supporting Scriptures:
Isaiah 43:19
Malachi 3:1 — “The Lord whom you seek will suddenly come…”
Key Thought:
One breath from God can do more than 10 years of human effort.
POINT 4 — THE WIND OF THE SPIRIT FILLS WHAT IS EMPTY
POINT 4 — THE WIND OF THE SPIRIT FILLS WHAT IS EMPTY
Acts 2:2 — “…and it filled the whole house…”
The Holy Spirit does not partially fill—He fully fills.
Real-Life Illustration:
When you fill a balloon with air, it expands. When you fill a sail with wind, the boat moves. When you fill a room with fresh air, everything becomes breathable again.
Likewise, when the Holy Spirit fills a believer:
Depression lifts
Confusion breaks
Strength rises
Joy returns
Direction becomes clear
Supporting Scriptures:
Ephesians 5:18 — “Be filled with the Spirit.”
Psalm 16:11 — “Fullness of joy.”
Key Thought:
The more room you give Him, the more He fills.
POINT 5 — THE WIND OF THE SPIRIT EMPOWERS YOU TO DO WHAT YOU COULD NEVER DO ALONE
POINT 5 — THE WIND OF THE SPIRIT EMPOWERS YOU TO DO WHAT YOU COULD NEVER DO ALONE
Before Acts 2, the disciples were ordinary men—afraid, unsure, hiding.
After the wind came, they were unrecognizable.
Real-Life Illustration:
A kite cannot fly without wind. It can be perfectly built but powerless without the breath that lifts it.
Many Christians are well-built—saved, gifted, called—but they need the wind to lift them.
Supporting Scriptures:
Acts 1:8 — “You shall receive power…”
Zechariah 4:6 — “Not by might… but by My Spirit.”
Key Thought:
The Spirit doesn’t just make you better—He makes you supernatural.
POINT 6 — THE WIND OF THE SPIRIT PRODUCES A SOUND THAT ANNOUNCES GOD IS MOVING
POINT 6 — THE WIND OF THE SPIRIT PRODUCES A SOUND THAT ANNOUNCES GOD IS MOVING
Acts 2:2 — “A sound from heaven…”
There is always a sound before a move of God:
A cry of hunger
Intercession rising
A church worshiping
A believer praying in tongues
A shout of victory
Real-Life Illustration:
A storm announces itself before you see it. You hear the wind through the trees. The Spirit announces revival the same way—through the sound of faith.
Supporting Scriptures:
2 Chronicles 20:22 — “When they began to sing…”
Acts 16:25–26 — Paul & Silas sang and suddenly the chains broke.
Key Thought:
Your sound can activate heaven’s wind.
POINT 7 — THE WIND OF THE SPIRIT CREATES A NEW BIRTH AND A NEW BEGINNING
POINT 7 — THE WIND OF THE SPIRIT CREATES A NEW BIRTH AND A NEW BEGINNING
John 3:8 — “So is everyone born of the Spirit.”
To be born of the Spirit means:
A new nature
A new identity
A new direction
A new strength
A new heart
Real-Life Illustration:
When CPR is performed, the rescuer literally breathes air into the lungs of someone dying. Breath brings life.
God does the same spiritually.
Supporting Scriptures:
Ezekiel 37:9–10 — “Breathe on these bones…”
Titus 3:5 — “Renewing of the Holy Spirit”
Key Thought:
The same wind that filled the Upper Room can fill you today.
CONCLUSION — “Holy Spirit, Blow Through This House”
CONCLUSION — “Holy Spirit, Blow Through This House”
When the wind of the Spirit comes:
The dry live again
The weak stand up
The bound are set free
The tired are refreshed
The fearful become bold
The broken become whole
The church becomes alive
You don’t have to understand the wind.
You just have to yield to it.
ALTAR CALL — “Let Him Breathe on You Again”
ALTAR CALL — “Let Him Breathe on You Again”
Today the Holy Spirit is asking:
“Will you open the window of your heart?”
“Will you let Me refresh you again?”
“Will you let Me move where I wish?”
“Will you surrender to the wind?”
If you’re hungry for more of Him…
If you need His breath in your life…
If you’ve been dry… empty… tired…
Lift your hands. Open your heart.
Let the rushing mighty wind fill your house.
